Hi Neighbor!

We’d like to introduce ourselves to you.

Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church is a warm and caring fellowship, worshiping on a quiet corner between Como Park and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. We’re an “old church” with a “New Vision”! Friends and visitors have called us  “The Church with a Smile!”

We’d really love to have you worship with us at Mt. Olive, but since there are many different churches today, we know you’d like to know a little about us first.

 We Are For:

  • The Bible, and we’re not ashamed to call it the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God.

  • The preaching of Jesus Christ, Crucified and Risen--of human sin and divine grace.  We believe that Jesus lives in His people, and therefore our desire is to “share Jesus” by living out His life in our lives.

  • Life--Life with God through Spirit-given faith in Jesus, and Life for the unborn child in the womb. We believe in a six-day creation and view each other as unique and wonderfully made individuals.

  • Missions, and support the world-wide ministry of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).  We also have special ministry ties to Peru, India, Cameroon, and China.  We are host to Mt. Olive Chinese Church.

  • Sharing with our neighbors the Good News of God’s amazing love and total forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

  • Christian Education, and offer Sunday School for ages 3 through grade 8, Youth League for grades 8-12. Sunday Adult Bible Study, and numerous Small Group Bible Classes. We conduct a Vacation Bible School each summer and also help support both a Christian grade school and a Christian high school.

At Mt. Olive we emphasize the forgiving love of God and the demonstration of that love in the life and message, the death and resurrection of Jesus. Our worship and ministry are built on the Bible and the application of God’s truth and love to our attitudes, emotions, and life.

Our idea of “church” is a family of Christians growing together in their understanding of life, meeting each other’s needs with God’s love, and celebrating God’s glory on the way to sharing it for eternity. We’d love to have you as part of our family!

If you’re looking for stability, and this sounds like the kind of Rock-solid foundation that you’ve been looking for, then come and grow with us. We don’t apologize for believing that God’s holy Word is the only ABSOLUTE TRUTH for this age of uncertainty.

Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church exists so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ might strengthen the faith of its members and reach out into the community and the world. To carry out this purpose we believe and teach:

  • that the Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God in all its parts and so is the only foundation for Christian faith and life;

  • that the Triune God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- revealed in the Bible is the one and only, true and living God;

  • that all have sinned against God’s holy will, continue to fall short of the perfection He demands of us, and therefore deserve to be condemned eternally:

  • that to rescue fallen mankind Jesus Christ, true God from eternity, became true man. Through His holy perfect life and innocent death He acted as mankind’s Substitute, living the perfect life we were unable to live, and dying the death that we had deserved. All this He did in order to deliver all people from the guilt and power of sin;

  • that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, as He had promised, assuring us that death will not be the last word for those whose trust is in Him;

  • that through faith created by the Holy Spirit the benefits of Christ’s work are received personally;

  • that on the last day Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead, and will give eternal life in heaven to all who trust in Him.

We join in this confession with over 1,200 congregations of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and, with them, carry on a world-wide ministry.
