The Lord's Supper is being celebrated today. This special meal, instituted by Christ, unites us with Him and our brothers and sisters in the faith. This sacrament is intended for those who are baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; trust in Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven; and believe that the true body and blood of Jesus are present with the bread and wine of Holy Communion.  Guests who share this faith are invited to speak with the pastor before joining us in this holy meal.

 

Please Don’t Rush Off After The Worship Service.  Stick around for a time of socializing and refreshments.  We hope you are able to stay!  The Education Hour follows at 10:30.  Welcome!

Florence Juth has provided this Sunday’s service folders in honor of her birthday and in loving memory of her mother.  She has also provided today’s chancel flowers, and is inviting us to enjoy some birthday cake with her following this morning’s worship service.  Thank you, Florence!  Happy 80th Birthday (Monday, October 22nd)!

 

Sincere Thanks to all who worked so hard in preparing and serving another enjoyable and delicious Kraut-‘n’-Rib Supper!  Thanks also to all who attended, and for your support to the local food shelf.  A door offering will be taken this Sunday and next so that you may make a contribution to the food shelf in case you weren’t able to attend the Kraut-‘n’-Rib Supper.  Thrivent for Lutherans South Ramsey Chapter Care & Communities will match funds up to a total of $800.00.  Let’s raise a goodly sum for the local food shelf!

 

Come And Enjoy an evening of Court Whist!  If you’ve joined us in the past, you know what fun it is!  If you haven’t come before, you’ll catch on in no time and you’ll have a great evening!  Bring your favorite snack to share, and come to the Fireside Room this Friday evening at 7:00pm.  Questions? Fall Church Cleaning & Fix-Up Project Day is scheduled for this Saturday morning here at Mt. Olive.  Can you help for an hour or two.  Thank you!  We’ll start at 8:30am.

 

St. Croix Lutheran High School, 1200 Oakdale Avenue, West St. Paul, will host a meal packing event for Feed My Starving Children, sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, this Saturday, October 27. Volunteers are needed!! Four two-hour sessions are planned: 8:00-10:00, 10:30-12:30, 1:00-3:00, 3:30-5:30. It's a great opportunity for an individual or a whole family to make a difference. No need to sign up. Just come for a session or two.

 

Coordinating Council Members, please pick up the 2008 budget sheets from your mail boxes today.

 

A New Bible Information Class will be starting up in November.  This course is an introduction to the Bible and our church, leading to membership in the congregation.  Please register by calling the church office (651-645-2575).

 

Reserve Friday, Nov. 9th, for a special 3-hour seminar (6:30-9:30pm) here at Mt. Olive by a former Muslim, now a WELS Christian.  Refreshments will be served.  In addition, Jennifer Arps is heading up a Book Fair where a large variety of books will be available to look at and/or purchase.  Watch the Olive Branch for more information.
