The Third Sunday After The Epiphany
God's Blessings To All Who Worship With
Us Today! Lord, help us to make Your house a home where those who are here will want to
remain, where those who visit will want to return, and where those who have
left will want to come back. May God's Spirit fill your
hearts with joy and peace through the knowledge of His love for you in
Jesus.
Visitors, we want you to feel at home in our midst. Please know that you are welcome!
The Lord's Supper
is being celebrated today. This special meal, instituted by Christ, unites us
with Him and our brothers and sisters in the faith. This sacrament is intended
for those who are baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
trust in Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven; and believe that the true body
and blood of Jesus are present with the bread and wine of Holy Communion. Guests who share this faith are invited to
speak with the pastor before joining us in this holy meal.

Message: Luke 4:14-21
“The Gentle Healer”
* The Gentle Healer came into our town today
He touched blind eyes and the darkness
left to stay
But more than the blindness, He took their sins away
The Gentle Healer came into our town today
The Gentle Healer
came into our town today
He spoke one word that was all He had to say
And the one who had died just rose up straight away
The Gentle Healer came into our town today
Oh, He seems like
just an ordinary man
With dirty feet and rough but gentle hands
But the words He says are hard to understand
And, yet, He seems like just an ordinary man
The Gentle Healer, He left our town today
I just looked around and found He'd gone away
Some folks from town had followed Him, they say
That the Gentle Healer is the Truth, the Life, the Way
Yes the Gentle Healer is the Truth, the Life, the Way
OLD TESTAMENT
LESSON Isaiah 61:1-6
The
Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to
preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow
on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of
mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be
called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His
splendor.
They will rebuild the ancient
ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations. Aliens will shepherd your flocks;
foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
And you will be called priests of the Lord, you
will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and
in their riches you will boast.
EPISTLE LESSON I Corinthians 12:12-21, 26-27
The body is a unit, though it
is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one
body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one
body-- whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free-- and we were all given the one
Spirit to drink.
Now
the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say,
"Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not
for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say,
"Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not
for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye,
where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would
the sense of smell be?
But in fact God has arranged
the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be. If they
were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but
one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the
head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"
If one part suffers, every part
suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you
are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
