We Gather To Worship The Lord

Order of Service:       Morning Praise, page 45 in front of the hymnal

Hymns:           531     561     570     563

Message:       Philippians 1:3-6

                        “Partnership in the Gospel

THE FIRST LESSON:  Revelation 7:9-17

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes-- who are they, and where did they come from?"  I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, "they are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tent over them. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their Shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

THE GOSPEL LESSON:  John 10:22-30

Then came the Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon's Colonnade. The Jews gathered around Him, saying, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."

Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for Me, but you do not believe because you are not My sheep. My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of My Father's hand.  I and the Father are one."

THE SERMON TEXT:  Philippians 1:3-6

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Walking Together Sunday: Mt. Olive is observing the synod-wide Walking Together Sunday today.  We remember once again the privilege of partnershiping in ministry with many other Christians around the world.  A very meaningful video will also be shown during this morning’s Adult Education Hour.  Let’s be quick to thank God for the many years that He has allowed us to Walk Together and pray for His continued blessings.  The brochure included in this bulletin shows some of the work being carried out through this partnership and includes a tear-away envelope for a thank offering to further support this work through WELS.

Pastor Henkel Will Be at a Lutheran Home Association planning retreat on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

The Members Of Mt. Olive are cordially invited to attend

the wedding service of Trisha Wright and Ryan Jacobs

this Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive.

Ben Schuyler Will Be Confirmed in our 9:00am Worship Service next Sunday morning here at Mt. Olive.  All are welcome!

Whenever We Have The Opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. (Gal 6:10 NLT)  And the opportunity is available for many here at Mt Olive. Every time we gather to worship people are needed to assist other members and visitors before and during the worship. The normal title is usher but actually they are “doing good…especially to those in the family of faith.”  The opportunity is available to young or old, families or individuals. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the entryway of the church.

The 13th Annual Christian Life Ministries Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 12th, from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church in North St. Paul.  Hanging baskets, bedding plants, and decorative plants will be featured.  All welcome!

Mt. Olive’s Great Give, Grow, and Grill Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 19th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.  The mobile blood unit will again be parked in front of church for a blood drive, and donors are needed.  Please Give blood if you can.  The annual plant exchange is always popular with the neighborhood.  It’s always fun to Grow and experience the beauty of flowers and plants.  On the parking lot will be a big tent, music, and free hot dogs on the Grill, potato chips, pickles, orange drink and cookies.  We’ll need lots of help setting up the tent, working with the plant exchange, grilling the hot dogs, and visiting with the folks from the neighborhood who stop by.  Our goal is to create a positive neighborhood awareness of our congregation.  Mt. Olive has been here at the corner of Pascal and Almond for 81 years, but most people who now live in the area have no idea who we are!  We’d like to change that!

Christian Life Ministries Walk for Life:  It is time again for our Walk for Life event at Casey Lake Park in North St. Paul on Sunday, May 20th, starting at 2:00pm.  Last year was a huge success with over $4,000 raised for our ministry, and fun was had by all!  This year promises to be even better.  A potluck dinner in the park pavilion will follow the event. Anyone interested may contact Marcella Voss (651.647.1662) for information and a registration form.  Anyone not able to go may also participate by sending a check in support of the Walk.

A 3-Day Coach Tour sponsored by Bethesda Lutheran Homes will visit such places as the International Crane Foundation and the Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI, the Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI, the House on the Rock in Spring Green, WI, and, of course, the beautiful Bethesda Lutheran Home Campus in Watertown, WI.  The dates are May 23-25, 2007, and the total price is only $212, which includes bus fare, lodging, six meals, and admission to all attractions.  See the poster on the bulletin board for more information or contact the church office for a brochure and registration form.

Camp Croix Registration Forms are still available in the church office.  We have camper registration forms and staff registration forms.  Summer camp is just over two months away!

St. Croix Lutheran High School has an opening for a grounds keeper beginning May 1 until the end of September. Forty hours/week. Lawn mowing, trimming, trash clean up, various other duties.  Applications are available at the high school - 1200 Oakdale Avenue, West St. Paul.
